Shipment pipeline view
Kanban board of bookings by state — the ops team's daily home page.
3 min readLast updated 13 Apr 2026
The Shipment Pipeline is a Kanban-style board that groups active bookings by state. It's where the forwarding ops team spends most of their day — the fastest way to see everything in flight and spot bookings that have stalled.
Overview
Lives at /app/forwarding/pipeline. Columns:
- Requested — awaiting carrier confirmation.
- Confirmed — carrier booked; awaiting document issuance.
- Locked — BL/AWB issued; awaiting pickup.
- Planned — pickup scheduled.
- In Transit — cargo moving.
- Arrived — cargo at destination; awaiting release.
- Delivered — POD received; awaiting invoicing / close.
Each card shows:
- Booking number + customer name.
- Lane (origin → destination).
- Mode badge (sea / air / road).
- Days in current state (colour-codes to amber after 3 days in one state, red after 7).
- Hold flag if held.
When to use
- Morning ops stand-up — scan each column; flag anything red.
- Customer call prep — search their name; see every active booking in one view.
- Handover between shifts — shared mental model.
Not the best view for:
- Deep filtering (use the Bookings list instead).
- Bulk edits.
- Historical reporting (use Reports).
Filters
Filters at the top:
- Mode (sea / air / road / all)
- Branch (if your tenant has branches)
- Customer
- Sales owner
- Date range (for ETD or creation date)
Filters persist per user — your last settings reload on return.
Moving a card
Drag-and-drop a card from one column to the next allowed transition. Invalid transitions (e.g. Requested → Delivered) are blocked with an inline message.
Dragging fires the same state transition as clicking a button on the booking detail, with the same role checks and audit logging.
Stall detection
Days-in-state colour-codes:
- Grey (0–2 days) — normal.
- Amber (3–6 days) — flag for review; not inherently wrong but worth a look.
- Red (7+ days) — almost certainly needs action.
The thresholds are per-state (configurable): some states move fast (Locked typically < 3 days), others slowly (In Transit can be 30 days for a sea shipment).
Hold indicator
A small clock icon on a card means the booking is flagged on hold. Hover to see the hold reason. The days-in-state counter doesn't pause while on hold — a hold that drags for weeks shows up in red regardless of the reason.
Bulk actions
Select multiple cards (Shift+click) to:
- Mark as Confirmed (if all selected are in
requestedand you have a batch carrier confirmation). - Print documents — generates a PDF per selected booking.
- Assign to me / someone — sets the ops owner field.
