Choosing a subscription plan

Starter / Team / Pro / Enterprise — how to pick, and how to change later.

Plans differ across three axes: seats, included usage, and advanced modules. This article helps you pick a starting plan and understand when to change it.

Overview

Every tenant has exactly one subscription at any time, tied to a Plan. Plans come in four tiers and regional variants (UAE, KSA, Global). The live up-to-date prices are on Pricing — numbers here are illustrative only.

Seat-based plans (Starter through Pro) charge a flat base + per-extra-seat. Enterprise is custom-priced and lifts the hard caps. You can pay monthly or yearly — yearly saves roughly 17%.

When to use which plan

  • Starter — Solo owner-operators or a team of 2–5 doing a few dozen shipments a month. Single branch, basic forwarding + invoicing. No road/WMS/customs.
  • Team — Small forwarders (6–15 users) who need multi-branch, the full forwarding stack, and basic road freight.
  • Pro — Mid-market forwarders (16+ users) who run road freight, warehousing, customs brokerage, or deep integrations. Higher included usage; overages bill at per-unit rates.
  • Enterprise — High-volume shops, group structures (parent + subsidiaries), custom SLAs, dedicated support, on-premises deployment options.

How usage overages work

Plans include a per-month quota for:

  • Shipments created — every booking counts once.
  • Warehouse orders (inbound + outbound) — for Pro.
  • Active SKUs — count of distinct SKU records across your WMS.

If you exceed the quota, extra units bill at a per-unit overage rate listed in the plan config. Overages appear as separate line items on your monthly platform invoice, so you see exactly which quota you blew through.

Changing plans (self-service)

You can change plans from Settings → Subscription → Change Plan at any time.

  1. Click Change Plan. You see a dialog with available plans and per-plan flags (whether the move is possible given your current usage).
  2. Plans marked unavailable show the blocking reason — usually "you have more users than the target plan allows; reduce first". You'd need to deactivate users before the downgrade.
  3. Pick the target plan and a billing cycle (monthly or yearly). Stripe shows the prorated charge preview.
  4. Continue to Payment — you're redirected to Stripe Checkout. On completion, Stripe webhook updates your plan in CargoSurge within a few seconds.
  5. A confirmation email is sent to your billing contact.

Common pitfalls

Cancelling

From Settings → Subscription → Cancel Subscription. You keep access until the end of the current billing period — the subscription just doesn't renew. To reactivate, pick a new plan anytime.

Enterprise — custom pricing

For high-volume tenants, group structures, or custom SLAs, contact [email protected]. Enterprise customers get a dedicated success manager, priority support, and can negotiate region-specific pricing.
