Block editing

Add, move, duplicate, and delete blocks on editable templates.

Every editable document in the PDF Designer is a tree of blocks. A block is a self-contained piece of layout — header, logo, address panel, charges table, totals, signature, footer.

Block types

  • Container blocks — row, column, grid. Hold other blocks.
  • Text blocks — heading, paragraph, label, merge-variable text.
  • Table blocks — charges table, cargo lines, addresses table. Data-bound to the source record.
  • Media blocks — logo, signature image, stamp, barcode / QR.
  • Spacer / divider — whitespace, horizontal rule, page break.
  • Conditional block — render only if a condition is true (e.g. "show incoterm if not blank").

Adding a block

Right-click any container in the Layers tree → Add block → pick a type. Or drag from the block palette at the bottom of the left panel onto the canvas.

New blocks land at the end of the parent container. Drag in the Layers tree to reorder.

Properties

With a block selected, the right-hand Properties panel shows what's editable for that block type:

  • Text — content, font, size, weight, colour, alignment.
  • Table — columns (add / remove / reorder), header style, row style, zebra, totals row visibility.
  • Media — source (tenant logo, per-record attachment, static URL), max width / height, alignment.
  • Conditional — the expression that gates visibility. See variables.
  • Spacing — padding, margin.

Duplicate, delete, hide

  • Duplicate — copies the block and its children into the same parent.
  • Delete — removes the block. Undo is available until you Save.
  • Hide — keeps the block in the tree but excludes it from render. Useful when testing without losing config.

Data-bound blocks

Charges tables, cargo lists, and addresses pull from the source record and cannot be retyped manually — the content renders at generation time. What you control is which columns show, their order, and formatting. Static text inside the same document (like a tagline under the logo) can be freely edited.

Save vs Publish

Saving updates the draft only. Generated documents continue to use the published template until you click Publish. See draft vs published.
